High School Students

Write a publishable research paper in 4 months or less!

We are partnering with Revolution Prep, to provide motivated high school students with a unique research opportunity that will help you prepare for college. With the help of a mentor (Professor, Post-doctoral Fellow, Graduate student) from a top 25 university, you can learn how to create a college level research paper that you can publish!  Summer spots are limited so apply now to reserve your spot before they are filled.

How It Works

One

Fill Out Our Application Form

Fill out our application form so we can assess if you qualify for the program. We will also use your application to choose a specific mentor for you. Be sure to indicate which mentors you are open to working with (Professor, Post-doctoral Fellow, and/or Graduate student).

Two

Connect With Your Mentor

Once accepted into our program, you will be sent the bio of the mentor that we have chosen for you. At that point you will then have a call with your potential mentor before making any payment. If it is not a good match and if there are still mentors available, we will find you a different mentor to work with.

Selecting a Topic

Over the first few weeks with your mentor, you will be guided through the process of creating your own research question that you will answer over the course of our program. This is a key step in the process as the better the topic, the better the final project will be.

Four
Finding Data

You will learn how to find valuable data online that drive your literature review-style research paper.

Five
Writing The Paper

After learning the ins and outs of how to write a college level research paper, you will start the process of creating your own with lots of support from your mentor.

Six
Revising The Paper
Seven

With the help of the mentor, your paper will be edited to increase its clarity and strength, giving you greater chances at having your paper published.

Publishing The Paper

Our publication package is an add-on that allows you to get help from your mentor over two additional meetings to help you submit your paper to a journal to be considered for publication. After that, your mentor will then provide you with additional support over email after you have received feedback from the first journal.

Our Research Scholars Accelerator Programs

Faculty ($8,000)

12 meetings over 16 weeks

Our faculty program allows you to work with a true expert in their field.  Summa has a wide array of faculty with different areas of expertise, allowing us to match each high school student to a mentor based on their specific interests.

post doc ($6,000)

12 meetings over 16 weeks

Post-doctoral fellows have their Ph.D., but have not yet become professors. The Post-doctoral program is a great middle ground that provides a more experienced researcher than a graduate student while being at a cheaper price point than a professor.

grad student ($2,800)

12 meetings over 16 weeks

Our graduate students are young and excited to work with high school students like yourself. Although they have less experience than a postdoc or professor, they have more than enough experience to help a motivated high school student learn how to develop their own research paper.

Publication Package - $1000

Once you finish writing your paper, you might want to try and publish it.  Our publication package will allow you to continue working with your mentor for an additional two meetings where they will help you navigate the process of submitting your paper to a research journal. You and your mentor will decide on which journal you would like to apply to (with expertise from our team as well to ensure you are applying to the right journal). After the journal has provided you with feedback, your mentor will help you make the recommended changes or apply to a new journal.  You are also free to apply for publication on your own if you prefer to do it that way. (Note: If you opt for the publication package, your mentor will assist you in the submission process.  However, no one can guarantee an accepted publication).

Empowering Students Through Mentorship

Collaborating with mentors from prestigious universities opens doors to unparalleled learning experiences. Working closely with experts in their field, students not only enhance their understanding of academic writing but also cultivate critical thinking and research skills essential for college and beyond.

Making Opportunities Accessible Through Community Support

At Summa, we believe in inclusivity and accessibility. Recognizing the financial barriers that some students face, we are committed to ensuring that economic status doesn't hinder access to transformative experiences. By reinvesting profits into providing free programs for deserving students, we strive to create a level playing field where everyone can thrive.

How the Application Process Works

Because we have a limited number of mentor slots, we will look through all of the submitted applications to identify the strongest candidates for the program.  Each accepted student will be matched with a mentor based on the student’s specific interest.  It is also critical to indicate which mentors you are open to working with (professors, post-doctoral fellows and/or graduate students).  Applicants who indicate they are open to working with all three types of mentors will have the best chance of getting accepted and assigned to work with one of them.  If selected, the high school student will then be given their mentor’s bio and have an initial call to see if they feel this mentor is a good match for them.  If it is not and there are still other mentors available, a new mentor will be assigned.  This meeting occurs prior to any financial commitment and is not one of the 12 meetings for the actual program.
